There’s an old Greek Mythology story about Sisyphus, a man who is punished by being forced to have to roll the same rock up a large hill over and over again. For a lot of people, this can be how life feels. You do the same hard work on repeat hoping to get ahead, but you can never seem to catch a break.
Life can be a war of attrition and being caught in the day to day of that can be exhausting. While this will not solve your struggle, you may find solace in the fact that you are not alone. In fact, I too have been there and felt as though I was doomed to bang my head against the wall for the entirety of my life.
I have felt the quiet desperation of feeling lost and like my luck would never change, that my break would never come. And I know, it is hard to not lose faith. The truth is, sometimes we got so caught in the moments that we are in that it becomes increasingly difficult to see the bigger picture. We become creatures of habit, slaves to our routines. Breaking free sounds simple but we all know that it isn’t.
There is a theory that even if there was a door just ten steps to the left, wide open, and full of opportunity, we may not see it. We are so laser-focused on our tasks at hand we are missing the chance to change our lives.
Are you tired of feeling this way? Are you ready to make a real change so you can stop looking back and feeling like you can’t get off of this path that you are stuck on? I’m about to tell you a story to show you how to avoid being doomed to repeat the same mistakes. It is time for you to unlock your true potential and make real steps towards a better tomorrow.
Today, I want to share with you the story about the fly and I hope that it serves as inspiration for you to find the next stage in your life. The following two excerpts are extracts from the book “You2” (Add Link Here) by Price Prichett. This book is one of my absolute favorites and it truly helped me find my inner power and change my life.
” There’s a small fly burning out the last of its short life’s energies in a futile attempt to fly through the glass of a windowpane.
The whining wings tell the poignant story of the fly’s strategy — try harder. But it’s not working, the frenzied effort offers no hope for survival.
Ironically, the struggle is a part of the trap. It is impossible for the fly to try hard enough to succeed at breaking through the glass. “
“Across the room, ten steps away, the door is open. Ten seconds of flying time and this small creature could reach the outside world it seeks. “
The point here is that sometimes we are so caught up in our own struggle we fail to see the solution that is right there for the taking. Taking a step back and evaluating all options is the way to find a key to a new life.
This story has always rung so true to me as I had spent the first 20 years of my life in this struggle. I lived on a sheep property two hours west of Longreach in Central Western Queensland and flies were a part of life. During the summers on the hottest of days when the temperatures would reach upwards of 47 degrees, you’d look around the windowsills and see all these dead flies that found themselves stuck and ultimately dying. I had no idea the foreshadowing this was telling for my future life.
In the end, I found myself able to easily relate to these creatures where I struggled to see the open door from the closed window.
Do you feel this way? Can you relate to the inability to find a new path out of the struggles you are facing?
The path to freedom is there and we just need a way to find it. There is a door open ten seconds to the left, and a new perspective can help us reach it.
The time for a new approach and that door, it’s ten steps to the left, and that’s my coaching. That’s where I can help you, that’s the breakthrough opportunity that you have been looking for. When you start to work with me you will see a breakthrough instantaneously and I make it feel effortless.
The door has always been open, you’ve just not had the chance to see it. When we work together, I help you find it and go through it.
